About Me
I have been interested in railways since the summer of 1964, when fishing trips to the River Anker at Polesworth with the old man, but without a rod, and where the WCML crosses the river, led me to take an interest in the passing trains. These consisted of steam, Dutchess and Britannia pacifics, Black 5's Jubilees and 2-6-4T's on the early morn mail. Diesels were Tats, later class 40's, and class 24's, and early electrics. However Photography didn't start until 1978, and not seriously until 1984 ( capturing class 40's, and 25's and Duffs on the S & C). I have always managed with second hand equiptment, old Pentax camera's and lens'. This changed in Jan 2003 when I bought a Nikon F80 and prime lens' and again more recently in July 2005 with a change to Digital, purchasing a Canon 20D, standard 1.4 and 28-135mm Zoom which is 3.5-5.6. Kit later upgraded to Canon 40D and L series Lens. Now that there is not so much to phot, I am retired and have up to date kit, c'est la ve!!! Would you believe I also manage the odd days fishin!!. I must acknowledge the great benefit derived from the GEN posted by the many selfless souls which make ours such a pleasurable pastime, my trusty Blackberry, and the unstinting patience of those who went digital before me and who have provided tremendous support. Good on ye lads.

_.jpg   6G77 47773 Burton-Bescot via Toton, Hargate nr Clay Mills 24-10-2002. Although a trip from Bescot-Burton still exists today, it runs excusively for the benefit of the steel terminal often conveying imported steel. At the time this image was taken the working was more of a general trip, servicing the fledgling terminal, but also conveying traffic for Toton, especially fuel oil for the still important EWS depot there. The format was an early morn arrival at Burton, some shunting, then departing for Toton around 10-00 ish, with a return around luchtime straight back to Bescot, normally via Burton, but occasionally via Leicester  "After 2000"  (4)

When Virgin trains were formed typically they came up with a striking livery which was applied to the locos and stock which formed their franchise, and whilst awaiting the construction of the electric "Pendelinos" and the diesel "Voyagers" which were to replace the inherited equiptment. Later some heritage liveries were applied including the old BR Corporate blue to 47840 had its nameplates added by the Western Reigon shortly after construction, when numbered D1661, carrying on an old tradition by the reigon, and retaining it plates where they had originally been attached right up to this day. This working often moved an additonal loco to Derby for an unbalanced working, which went forward to Derby from Birmingham as ecs, sometimes via Tamworth and sometimes via the X-City line through Lichfield.  "After 2000"  (3)

This loco was in the custody of D9000 Ltd at the time having been oriinally purchased as a source of spares, but later restored. It had recently benefited from a non authentic repaint sponsored by the Roscoe and not appreciated by all!  "After 2000"  (2)
